Summary
Derek Lively is a 7’1 center who has terrific athleticism for his size. He has good lateral quickness, which helps him stay in front of opposing players. He is an elite and instinctual shot blocker due to his length and timing. Lively is a solid rebounder on both ends. What’s evolving for him is his perimeter and face-up game. He has shown tremendous improvement with his handle, passing, and shooting range/touch. He has a quick jab step and rip through move that will help him get to the basket or create separation for an elbow pull-up jumper. Lively runs the floor extremely well, always dedicated to being the first down the court looking for the ball. He is also a very good screener who rolls and finishes well at the rim. Lively needs to add more muscle and overall strength to his lower and upper body, as well as improve his footwork in the post so he can score more efficiently. Overall, Lively looks to be a great long-term prospect, who will play next season at Duke university.
